Navigation Tree Editor
- This page permits you to edit the Navigation Tree to suit your needs.
- Any changes you make to the tree affect all users of the tree, not just your own user profile.
- The Current Tree box is a workspace for making changes.
- Each item in the tree is called a node.
- A node with a plus sign (+) is a parent containing one or more children, which are also nodes.
- Clicking on the plus sign for a parent shows all of its children.
- When you click on a node, information about the node appears under Node Information and the buttons under Tree Functions become available.
- You can drag and drop a node (including all of its children) from one place to another.
- The Node Information list provides details about the node currently selected in the Current Tree box:
- Display Name is the (editable) name of the node as it appears in the Navigation Tree.
- The default Node Type, System, is used for all nodes discovered by the system during building discovery. If you create a node in the Navigation Tree Editor, you can assign it as a custom node.
- Context describes where the node is located in the tree.
- Graphic Assignment identifies the graphic assigned to the node, if any.
- The Tree Functions buttons do the following:
- Add Child permits you to add a child to the selected node.
- Sort puts children of the selected node in order from A to Z and 0 to 9.
- Edit permits you to make changes to the selected node.
- Undo permits you to undo each action you have taken, one action at a time, beginning with the most recent you completed. Up to 100 actions can be undone or back to the last point where changes were saved.
- Delete permits you to remove a node (with or without removing its children) from the Navigation Tree. If you do not remove the children, they are promoted to the level of the parent that was deleted.
- The Tree Actions buttons do the following:
- Save makes your changes permanent. The button becomes available (and the words Modified Tree appear) when there are changes to save.
- Backup makes a copy of the currently-saved navigation tree. If you have unsaved changes in the Navigation Tree Editor, those changes will not be saved to the backup file unless you click Save first. The backup file is stored on the Tracer Ensemble server according to the date and time the backup was performed.
- Restore replaces the currently-saved navigation tree with a navigation tree that was backed-up previously. After you click Restore, you will be able to choose the file (by date and time) from which you want to restore the tree. Performing the restore operation destroys the current navigation tree; it is recommended you first backup the current tree as a precaution.
