Manage Database Size
Manage Database is automatically enabled when Tracer Ensemble is licensed with an Express license or when Tracer Ensemble is connected to a SQL Express system. The default value for SQL Express databases automatically enables Delete old data based on database file size of 9.5 GB and will retain 365 days of data.
CAUTION: Selecting one of the options to delete old data at this time will result in data log values being permanently deleted from the Tracer Ensemble database
Note: The maximum database size cannot exceed 1000 Gigabytes.
- This page permits you to view or make changes to the database size management settings or run the database maintenance settings immediately.
- From the view page you can do one of two actions:
- Click Edit to begin editing the settings.
- Click Run Now to execute the currently scheduled settings without waiting for the scheduled time to expire. This is not selectable when the database size management selection is Do not delete old data.
- From the edit page (after you click Edit on the view page), you can configure the following settings:
- Select Do not delete old data to deactivate either database size management option. This is not selectable when the database type is SQL Express.
- Select Delete old data based on a schedule, then specify the settings for the schedule, including how old data should expire in days or months, and then how frequently the schedule should delete the expired data (on a weekly or monthly basis and on which particular day of the week or month, and at what time).
- Select Delete old data based on database file size, then specify the settings, including at how old data should expire in days or months, and the maximum database size in gigabytes.
- Also from the edit page (after you click Edit on the view page), you can limit the number of log entries that are stored according to which type of log they are. Select Yes for any given type of log (Alarm, Global Point Control, System, or User Change) to activate a limit, then specify the maximum number of entries that can be stored in the database. The Maximum Log Entries value can range from 1 to 100,000. When the limit is set to No the Maximum Log Entries value is automatically set to Unlimited. You cannot select No for SQL Express databases. Oldest logs are always deleted first to make room for the newest logs.
